Conquistadors Dominate on Day 1 of USCAA National Championships

NOVEMBER 9TH, 2018 – Three teams. Three different stories. One common goal: to bring the championship glory home to Hialeah, FL. On the morning of Wednesday, November 8th, the Florida National University (FNU) Conquistadors arrived at Virginia Beach to compete in the 2017 USCAA National Championships.

On day one, the Conquistadors did exactly what they set out to do: dominate. Our Women’s Soccer team, a program in their first year of existence, defeated Bryant Stratton-Syracuse 2-0 with goals scored by D’Yolanda Pineda and Jurema Borini. In Men’s Soccer, FNU jumped to an early lead versus Johnson & Wales (NC) and won in convincing fashion, defeating the Wildcats 4-0. The goal-scorers for the Conquistadors were Vinicius Costa, Rodrigo Costa, Pedro Veiga and Denilson De Almeida. After another strong performance in the regular season, The Lady Conquistadors Volleyball team went into the tournament ranked as the #1 seed. On day one, they showed the world why, beating Penn State Brandywine 2-0, led by Naimir Garcia’s 9.5 points and Thalia Torres’ 7 points.

With another tough slate of games coming on Day 2, the Conquistadors are seeking to continue their winning ways.
