Conquistadors kick off exhibition season with impressive win over Broward

Exhibition season got underway last evening as the Florida National Men’s Basketball team traveled to Broward to face the Seahawks in its exhibition opener. The teams played 2- 20 minute sessions and a 10 minute session, as both coaches are still trying to put their rosters and game plans together for the regular season. In the first session the Conquistadors outscored the Seahawks 52-42. Junior point guard Quantavis Hall was unstoppable. In the first period he scored 21 points. The Seahawks could not stop him from going to the basket, He finished 12-15 from the free throw line and added 5 rebounds and 4 assist. With 2 starters from last year unavailable to play, newcomers LaQuon Kirce and Marcus Morrison contributed big games. Kirce added 21 points, including 4-6 from 3 point range, 7-9 from the free throw line and he added 4 assist. Morrison was huge inside dominating the Seahawks to the tune of 16 points 9 rebounds and 2 blocks. The team will conclude its exhibition season at home against highly ranked JUCO, Palm Bach State at home Saturday at 4 PM at Bucky Dent Recreation Park. The first regular season game is scheduled for Tuesday November 3, at Webber International University at 7 PM.
