Florida National University Celebrates the U.S. Navy’s 240th Birthday

On Tuesday, October 13, 2015, Florida National University (FNU) celebrated the United States Navy’s 204th Anniversary by hosting a birthday party at the University’s Hialeah Campus. To help commemorate the event, FNU invited Petty Officer 2nd Class Alyssa Tosun who is stationed in NRD Miami. Petty Officer Tosun has been in the Navy for seven years and is currently working on an associate’s degree in Health Services Administration. Currently, she is enrolled in FNU’s online learning division.

During the celebration, FNU President/CEO Maria C. Regueiro and Hialeah Campus Dean Jorge Alfonso presented Petty Officer Tosun with a certificate of appreciation for her military service. Petty Officer Tosun shared a little bit about her experiences in the Navy, and her desire to pursue her post-secondary goals while still in the Navy.

As a military friendly institution, Florida National currently has enrolled a combined total of 117 service members.
