MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (Aug. 23, 2022) – The Conquistadors put up an impressive and encouraging performance on the road against the St. Thomas University Bobcats before ultimately falling to the home team 3-0. St. Thomas came into this contest winning five straight matches against FNU and was ranked the top seed in the Sun Conference Preseason Poll.

Set One FNU Notables (14-25)

  • FNU scored the first point of the match off an attack error by Kendall Brock
  • Only committed one service error
  • The Conquistadors generated eight kills in the opening set

 

Set Two FNU Notables (13-25)

  • Came out hot to start the set and kept the game close 4-3 before the first timeout in the set.
  • Produced six kills and 22 attack attempts
  • Kept service errors in the set to four

 

Set Three FNU Notables (19-25)

  • Took an early 2-1 lead in the set on a kill by Gabriela Gonzalez
  • Recorded ten kills
  • Had 30 attack attempts

 

Match Notables:

  • Sofia Moreno Bendala led the team with seven kills in the contest.
  • Juliana Santos tallied 17 digs on the evening.
  • Maria Liva recorded 20 assists before the match came to a close.
