After a slow start to the season the Lady Conquistador volleyball team has rebounded nicely by taking two out of three games in the Brewton Parker Volleyball Classic in Mt. Vernon Georgia. In the first game, the Lady Conquistadors were defeated by NCAA D2 and defending SIAC champion, Claflin College. After taking the first match 25-22, they came up short in the second match 19-25 and lost the tie-breaker match 15-12.

On day 2 of the Classic, the Lady Conquistadors won their first game of the season by defeating Georgia Northwestern Tech 2-0, 25-20, 25-13.

In the second game of the day, the Lady Conquistadors defeated host, Brewton Parker 2-1, 15-25, 25-19, 15-6. “I am very pleased with our effort, we are really growing as a team”, said Head Coach Carlos Huaroto-Luque. As the Lady Conquistadors build depth and add talent, they depend a lot on overall team effort. “We depend a lot on the leadership and talent of our two upperclassmen, Katherine Vasquez and Brianna Ballow, but in order for us to win, we must have contributions from everyone and we got that this weekend. I am pleased with the growth of our young players”, said Coach Carlos.

The Lady Conquistadors improve their record to 2-3. The next game will be played against Hillsborough Community College on August 25 in Tampa. The game is scheduled to start at 7pm.
