Florida National University Announces

New Admissions Procedure for

Foreign Physicians

Florida National University provides an equal admissions process for international medical students

HIALEAH, FL – Florida National University (FNU) is proud to highlight the opportunities we now have available for foreign physicians now residing in the United States of America (USA). As of July 2016, foreign physicians who reside in the USA that would like to be engaged in the health service field can now choose to pursue a Master’s degree in Nursing with a concentration in General Family Nurse Practitioner at FNU.

“The foreign physician applicants may choose to enroll in any of our nursing programs. [FNU] does not have a special track just for foreign physicians; they have to complete the same core courses for the [nursing] program that they select.” Dr. Caridad M. Hernandez, Vice President of Academic Affairs said. Students will find the tracks offered very attractive when they transfer most of the previous general education courses from their translated and evaluated foreign credentials.

As with any transferring student, the transcript presented must be thoroughly reviewed in order to determine what level of education the applicant will be placed in and which program will be the best fit for him or her.

“So far, most of the foreign physicians that have recently applied want the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).” Dr. Hernandez said. Every case is individually analyzed, especially for those applicants that already hold a Registered Nurse (RN) license.

Even though foreign physicians have graduated and possibly even practiced medicine in their own country, there are certain criterions of education that must be met in the US. FNU works diligently in helping foreign physicians transition to become part of the Health Sciences field in the USA.

Contact Dr. Hernandez for more information about FNU’s new admissions process for foreign physicians.
