3 Conquistadors named in AVCA All-Region team

Hialeah, Fla – Three Florida National University volleyball student-athletes earned AVCA all-North Central Region honors in an announcement made by the American Volleyball Coaches Association. Conquistadors who earned all-Region accolades included junior outside hitter Joanne Dania, senior libero Carolina Arrais Dantas, and senior setter Gabriela Hernandez.

Dania earned CAC All-Conference 1st team and was named AVCA All-Northcentral Region. The junior concluded this season with 26 starts for the conquistadors, recorded 257 kills and had a .208 hitting percentage.

Senior libero Carolina Dantas was recognized on many occasions and concludes this season with AVCA Honorable mention, CAC libero of the year, CAC All-Conference 1st team, and CAC Defender of the week on 10/18/21. Dantas posted 25 matches, 275 digs, and averaged 3.62 digs per set.

Gabriela Hernandez senior setter for the conquistadors was also named AVCA Honorable mention in the Northcentral region. Hernandez earned CAC All-Conference 1st team and was named setter of the week on three separate occasions this season. The senior played in 27 matches, had a total of 550 assists, and averaged 5.98 assists per set.

The conquistadors concluded the season 15-12.
