Baseball Splits Doubleheader with Bryant & Stratton

PALM BEACH, Fla. (March 11, 2021) – The Florida National baseball team (5-11) split a doubleheader with Bryant & Stratton (2-16), defeating the Bobcats, 4-3 (7 innings), in the first game and suffering a 10-2 (7 inning) defeat Game Two on Thursday.

A sacrifice fly by Gabiel Vasquez in the top of the seventh scored Manuel Blanco to give FNU the 4-3 win in Game One.

Carlos Cartaya drove in three runs in the contest, blasting a two-run bomb in the top of the fifth and opening the scoring with an RBI sac fly in the top of the first.

For the Conquistadors, Ramses Gonzalez (1-0) earned the victory, allowing no runs on just one hit in two innings of relief.

In Game Two, the Bobcats used two four-run innings (fifth and sixth) to down the Conquistadors, 10-2. Six errors led to six unearned runs for Bryant & Stratton.

FNU scored two runs on four hits in the game and could not overcome the eight runs scored late by the Bobcats.

Daniel Iglesias (0-1) suffered the loss allowing five runs (one earned) on three hits in two and one-third innings of action.

The Conquistadors will now travel to Thomasville, Georgia, to take on the Thomas Night Hawks in a three-game weekend series. Game One of the series is slated to begin on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
