CONQUISTADORS WOMEN’S BASKETBALL GOES FOR THIRD WIN IN A ROW

Brianna Shooting FTHialeah – FL- The Florida National University Women’s basketball team seeks a third consecutive win on Tuesday evening against Florida College, in a very close game at Bucky Dent Gym.

After a bad end of season in 2018 with 4 straight losses, the Lady Conquistadors of Florida National University Basketball team, started 2019 on fire with a 3-0 record. The Conquistadors Played 3 home games in the first 8 days of 2019 and won all games.

First Game – In the first game on January 4th, the Conquistadors played Trinity Baptist College at Bucky Dent Gym and beats the Eagles 79-50.

GAME STATS:
  • FNU shot 45.5% from the field on 30-of-66 shooting overall but was hot from the field in the Second half, hitting 52.5%.
  • FNU shot 29.4% from downtown on 5-of-17 shooting.
  • Trinity Baptist College hit 37.5% of its shots from the paint and 50% from the long range.
  • Applying the pressure on the defensive side, the Conquistadors forced 29 turnovers and recorded 19 steals.
  • Ashley Williams scored a team high 18 points, and added a team high 6 steals.
  • Brianna Richardson noted 17 points, and added a team high 5 assists, going 8-of-17 from the field and 1-for-7 from Downtown.
  • Destiny Weldon noted 14 points, 3 rebounds and 1 steal.
  • Deandra Akins came off the bench with 12 points going 4-of-9 from the field and 3-for-7 from Downtown.

Second Game – In the second game on January 5th, the Conquistadors played again against Trinity Baptist College at Bucky Dent Gym and beats the Eagles 82-37.

  • FNU shot 30.4% from downtown on 7-of-23 shooting.

  • Applying the pressure on the defensive side, the Conquistadors forced 36 turnovers and recorded 19 steals.
  • Destiny Lindsey came off the bench to score a team high 18 points, and a team high 5 steals.
  • Brianna Richardson and Destiny Weldon noted 13 points each. and added a team high 5 assists.
  • Ashley Williams noted 10 points, 2 rebounds and 5 steals.
  • Deandra Akins came off the bench with 9 points going 3-of-12 from the field and 3-for-10 from Downtown.

Third Game – In the third game on January 8th, the Conquistadors played again against Florida College at Bucky Dent Gym and beats the Falcons in a very close game 68-59.

  • Applying the pressure on the defensive side, the Conquistadors forced 35 turnovers and recorded 20 steals.
  • Rosalyn Sealey score a team high 17 points, and added a 4 rebounds .going 6-of-14 from the field.
  • Brianna Richardson noted 8 points while Destiny Weldon noted 9 points.
  • Ashley Williams led the Conquistadors on the boards with 6 rebounds, she also scored 11 points and recorded 2 steals.
  • Destiny Lindsey came off the bench with 10 points going 3-of-10 from the field.
