FNU Hosts Computer-Aided Denstistry Workshop

HIALEAH, FL – On Saturday, February 17th, a group of current Dental Lab Tech students, as well as alumni from the program, came to the Hialeah Campus to attend a workshop on CAD/CAM (Computer-Aided Design and Computer-Aided Manufacturing) dentistry. While Saturday may be regarded as a day of rest and relaxation for some, these dedicated students took the day to continue mastering their craft. The workshop was led by our very own Dental Department Head, Mr. Mauricio Restrepo. Also in attendance for the workshop were Director of Allied Health, Dr. Loreto Almonte and Hialeah Campus Dean, Dr. Jorge Alfonso.

Through the use of CAD/CAM dentistry, students are shown a new perspective on the designing of dental restorations. By using this digital platform, convenience, speed and accuracy is gained when creating patient restorations such as veneers, crowns, bridges or dentures. The workshop proved to be a great success, with students and alumni alike leaving the room with new knowledge that can be applied in-field instantly!
