Florida National University Donates Food, Supplies and Hope to His House Children’s Home

Miami, Florida – November 20, 2012 Florida National University (FNU) held a Thanksgiving Food Drive to benefit His House Children’s Home (His House). The donations were provided by FNU students, faculty and staff from each campus. The donations were delivered to His House on Tuesday, November 20th by Ms. Claudia Becker, an FNU ESL student, and Ms. Maria Hoffman, FNU’s South Campus Student Services Officer.

Florida National University was able to collect approximately 150 cans of food, several boxes of potato flakes, bottles of juice, canned fruit, several bags of rice, beans, cereal, seasoning, oil, crackers and cookies, paper towels, toilet paper, pulls ups, diapers, shampoo, body creams, and toiletries etc. There were also donations of $150.00 in Publix gift cards.

His House Children’s Home staff members, Mr. Hugo Carballosa and Ms. Sabrina Sosa, received the much needed donations and were very grateful for FNU’s support. Due to Government cuts to charities, His House is still in great need of food and common household items. In order to help meet their needs, FNU is working on a plan to continue to collect donations and deliver them to His House Children’s Home on a monthly basis.
