NORTH MIAMI, Fla. (March 17, 2023) – Gino Bellantoni steps up the plate looking to execute a walk-off win for the Florida National University baseball team. The Bryant & Stratton College of Albany Bobcats held a 9-7 lead as Bellantoni took centerstage with two runners out. But a fly-out to center field put an end to FNU’s walk-off aspirations. The Conquistadors suffered its third straight loss this week dropping their season record to 9-10.

The Bobcats connected on four runs in the first, as FNU’s Matthew Gonzalez delivered a solo homer to centerfield to make the score 4-1 heading into the second. The Bobcats continued their run in the fourth with three runs and two hits before FNU got the third out of the frame.

In the fifth, Nick Diaz scored on a triple from Gonzalez. FNU was right back in the running after a three-RBI homer from first baseman Yordangel Gonzalez made the score 8-5. In the sixth,  Gonzalez continued his stellar game with a run scored on a Bellantoni single. FNU’s defense did just enough to keep the Bobcats scoreless in the seventh, picking up three quick outs to set up a thrilling bottom of the seventh.

With the bases loaded, a single from Gonzalez up the middle scored pinch runner Anson Graumann. Unfortunately, this would be the final run scored for FNU. The Bobcats ended the game with ten hits and one error. FNU committed three errors and recorded 10 hits.
