HIALEAH, Fla. (April 5, 2024) – Florida National University’s men’s tennis team (1-11) could not pull off the victory versus the No. 19 Savannah College of Art and Design Bees (7-7) on the courts of Goodlet Park. The Bees fell behind after a brilliant performance from FNU pair Guido Gentile and Alejandro Suarez. They defeated Mark Tryakshin and Patricio Medrano 7-6 to clinch the 1-0 FNU advantage heading into singles play. 

FNU’s Sebastian Fujita and David Santamaria also got a victory to open the match, besting Mark Tryakshin and Patricio Medrano. Singles play saw the Conquistadors drop matches to Danil Ozernoy, Tryakshin and Adam Jaupart. Suarez was the lone Conquistador to post an individual win, topping Yu Dian Dong 6-3, 6-0. Henri Wieber’s competitive 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 win over Matteo Ruscassier proved to be the difference maker for the Bees.

Number two:

Guido Gentile / Alejandro Suarez defeated Mark Tryakshin / Patricio Medrano (7-6)

Number three: 

Sebastian Fujita / David Santamaria defeated Yu Dian Dong / Adam Jaupart (6-3)


Singles Competition: 

Guido Gentile falls to Danil Ozernoy (3-6, 3-6)

Ignacio Acosta falls to Mark Tryakshin (2-6, 1-6)

Luigi Stefanacci falls to Adam Jaupart (2-6, 2-6)

Alejandro Suarez defeated Yu Dian Dong (6-3, 6-0)

Matteo Ruscassier falls to Henri Wieber (6-3, 2-6, 2-6)

David Santamaria vs. Patricio Medrano (3-6, 1-2, UF)
