Bellefleur set to make NAIA Championship appearance

HIALEAH, Fla. (May 19, 2023) – Florida National University’s track and field sophomore standout David Bellefleur is the lone Conquistador qualifier for the 2023 NAIA Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The qualifiers were announced by the NAIA on Friday, with Bellefleur ranked 27th in the men’s 800m. 

Approximately 700 student-athletes qualified for the Outdoor Championship scheduled to be held at Indiana Wesleyan University from May 24-26. Bellefleur has excelled this season as a mid-distance runner, topping a school record at the University of Miami Hurricane Invitational on March 18 in the 1500m. Notably, he placed third in the men’s 800m with a time of 1:52.81 at the Embry-Riddle Spikes Classic on March 31.

The men’s 800m is set to begin May 25 at the Wildcat Stadium in Marion, Ind., starting with the preliminaries at 2:50 p.m. The final for the 800m will take place the following day at 4 p.m.
