DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (March 31, 2024) – Florida National University’s track and field team was in Daytona Beach, Fla., from March 29-20 for the Embry-Riddle Running Elements Classic. The Conquistadors’ men’s and women’s teams impressed in a field of NCAA DI and NAIA talent including Bethune-Cookman University, Southeastern University and St. Thomas University.

Florida National’s Kristian Bodden set a school record with a time of 16:01.28 in the 5K. Sophomore standout Trevor Moonin ended the 100M race in 26th place, clocking in at 10.96 and placed 30th in the 400M dash. Notably, FNU’s record holder in the 3000 steeplechase, Alessandro Herrera, ended his competition with a time of 11:24.50 to finish in 12th. 

The women’s team had Joelle Baptiste perform well in the 400M race, ending the competition in seventh place with a time of 1:02.56. Baptiste joined Christina Adams, Prisilla Gonzalez and Daryl Quichimbo for the 4x400M relay where the team finished seventh, crossing the finish line at 4:36.31.

Miel Johnson claimed top-20 finishes in the discus, javelin and shot put throws.
