WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. ( Nov. 17, 2023) – Florida National University’s men’s basketball team (0-4) dealt with a very talented and crafty Palm Beach Atlantic University (3-1) squad Friday night. The Conquistadors lost 96-66 in West Palm Beach despite solid performances from Cameron Johnson and Matthew Robinson. This is the fourth straight win for the Sailfish against FNU and the largest margin of victory since November 11, 2021.
In the first half, Johnson did a lot of heavy lifting for FNU posting 12 points and three rebounds in 16 minutes of action. The Sailfish dominated with glass with 24 points in the paint to FNU’s 16. The Conquistadors were also outrebounded 20-13 before heading to halftime. PBA’s Will Lee, Dan Braster and Trent McNair were all in double-digits in the opening period, as FNU had no answer to a rolling Sailfish offense.
When play resumed, PBA continued to each those 50/50 balls, picking up 11 second chance points. PBA’s bench outscored FNU’s reserves 24-4 while Robinson went 5-9 from the field for 12 second-half points. Ray Daniel Parrish and Marcos Molina Jr. combined for 15 points while the Sailfish cruised to a 30-point win at home.
