Conquistadors Open with Dominate Road Performance

Basketball player in a gym taking a free throw while other players watch Winning on the road is always a tough task, yet last night the Conquistadors made it look easy by dominating Webber, 102-68. The game was never in doubt as the Conquistadors put up 60 first half points to take a 20 point halftime lead, 60-40. Junior point guard Quantavis Hall set the tone scoring 15 first half points slashing to the basket for lay-ups and converting 4-4 from the free throw line. He finished with 20 points, 7 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 assist. Newcomer, Marcus Morrison was unstoppable. He shot 11-14 from the field and 7-9 from the free throw line, totally 29 points, 15 rebounds, 2 blocks and 1 steal. Webber had no answers for him. Newcomers Alvaro Simoza and JoaQuan Whitley added scoring punch off the bench. Simoza, a University of Barry transfer contributed a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds and Whitley provided timely outside shooting hitting 5-8 from three point range, finishing with 15 points, 2 rebounds and 1 assist. It was a great overall team effort by the Conquistadors. They will be back in action Thursday at Johnson and Wales. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
