LAKELAND, Fla. ( Oct. 14, 2023) – Florida National University’s cross country team had its final regular season meet on Oct. 13 at the Sunshine State Conference Preview Meet in Lakeland, Fla. The Conquistadors excelled in a competitive field that included NCAA schools like the University of North Florida and the University of South Florida. NAIA heavyweights like Ave Maria University and Webber International also made the trip.

In the women’s 6k, the Conquistadors ended the evening 10th out of 11 teams and put up a team score of 229. Christina Adams ran the second-fastest 6K in FNU history with a time of 25:54.2 and placed 27th. Notably, Daryl Quichimbo crossed the finish line in 45th place with a time of 27:40.3.

The men’s 8K was a strong showing for FNU’s men, with the Conquistadors placing 11th out of 15 teams and posting a team score of 298. FNU’s top finisher for the event was Kristian Bodden with a time of 29:20.8, earning him 42nd place. Leon Kipkoech placed 68th while Mario Martinez was 83rd.
