MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (Feb. 19, 2023) – Florida National University’s track and field team opened the 2023 season at the St. Thomas University Opener hosted by Monsignor Edward Pace High School. The field was set with various local NAIA and NCAA schools including, Ave Maria, Lynn University, the University of the Bahamas, Keiser and Nova Southeastern.

FNU’s men’s team finished in fourth place out of seven teams, thanks in part to two big wins from sophomore sensation David Bellefleur. The Miami native secured first place in the men’s 1500m with a time of 4:03.93, displaying a strong kick at the end of the race to edge out the competition. Bellefleur also claimed the top spot in the men’s 800m finishing with a time of 1:55.59 to cap off an impressive start to 2023.

FNU’s Nicolas Aguado finished fifth in the men’s 200m with a time of 23.21 seconds. Freshman Trevor Moonin got the top spot in the men’s high jump as Ingmar van Noort finished third.
