HIALEAH, Fla. ( Oct. 14, 2023) – Florida National University’s inaugural eSports season was a booming success as the Conquistadors trounced the Shawnee State University Bears 2-0 on Oct. 10 and put up a good fight in a 2-0 loss to Manchester University’s junior varsity team Oct. 13.

Round one of the Conquistadors’ battle against the Bears lasted around 25 minutes. FNU easily charged past Shawnes’s defense and their coordination and team chemistry were on full display.

Caio Alves played a massive role in securing critical fight wins in his role as the Attack Damage Carry (ADC) or Marksman. Notably, stellar individual performances from Luis Quinones and Paul Perez sealed FNU’s first win in program history.

The Conquistadors’ second match of the week came down to minuscule details with each side putting up 27 kills. Quinones and Perez did well versus Manchester and found early picks throughout the first round. FNU was excellent at engaging Drakes, winning one of its first major team fights before losing 2-0.

Up Next: Esports is back in the arena on Oct. 17 at 7 p.m. for a much-anticipated battle against Highland Community College.
