HIALEAH, Fla. (Feb. 12, 2024) – Florida National University’s Ignacio Acosta and Chiara Fiorenza take home the school’s first-ever Men’s and Women’s Tennis Player of the Week from The Sun Conference (TSC) after masterful performances against top NCAA schools. FNU’s men’s and women’s tennis teams joined The Sun Conference in the summer of 2023.
Acosta, the men’s player of the week, faced tough NCAA DI and DII talent in Florida National’s week of competition. Acosta fell 6-1, 6-1 versus Stetson University’s Ervin Haris Eminefendic and lost two matches with partner David Santamaria by a score of 6-3.
Fiorenza, the women’s player of the week, had a solid display of dominance for Florida National against top NCAA schools. Fiorenza picked up singles wins against Embry-Riddle’s Kaylee Kirivong and a three-set win over Eckerd’s Maialen Idiakez.
