HIALEAH, Fla. ( Jan. 12, 2023) Florida National University’s women’s basketball team’s 2022-23 season has caught the eye of Effective Sports Media, as members of the program will take part in a documentary produced by the marketing agency.

The West Palm Beach, Fla., based company is set to sit down with women’s basketball head coach, Yahveh Silva. Guard Gabriela Solis is also in the works to give accounts of her experience playing in the local high school circuit and her transition into college athletics.

Assistant coaches, Alba Montalvo and Raymond Lopez both gave short introductions prior to FNU’s 83-58 loss to Keiser University on Jan. 7. Both coaches expressed excitement for what their team could accomplish moving forward, as Montalvo stressed how much work coaches and players have put in on a daily basis to excel on the court.

The Conquistadors 2022-23 season has been one for the history books, as Janelisse Marty Marrero and Natalie Larranaga are the first players in program history to take home the Continental Athletic Conference Player of the Week award. FNU entered 2023 with a 6-6 record, including a dominant 2-0 record at the FNU Christmas Classic.

The Conquistadors defeated Johnson and Wales University Providence (RI) and the University of Fort Lauderdale to escape the tournament as the only undefeated team.
