LAKELAND, Fla. (March 30, 2024) – Florida National University’s men’s tennis team (1-10) continues its search for a Sun Conference win, losing 4-0 to the No. 6 Southeastern University Fire (14-4). SEU dominated each portion of the match, grabbing an impressive opening point in doubles play and surgically claiming three singles wins to end the match.

The Fire got off to a hot start as FNU pair Ignacio Acosta and Matteo Ruscassier lost their match to Bruno Pessoa and Diego Menendez 6-0. Guido Gentile and Luigi Stefanacci fell to Alejandro Orihuela and Victor Olivera 6-2 as the Fire turned their attention to singles play. 

Menendez posted a 6-1, 6-1 win over Stefanacci, while Ruscassier missed the mark against Piero Fernandez 6-2, 6-1. FNU’s Agustin Cortona was the last Conquistador to suffer a loss, dropping his match to Mark Griffin 6-0, 6-0.
