WINTER PARK, Fla. ( Feb. 6, 2024) – Florida National University’s men’s tennis team suffered another loss in the young 2024 season, this time to Rollins College. RC was able to sweep the Conquistadors at home in Winter Park, Fla., thanks to strong singles play from various players. This is the second time Rollins has conquered a match versus FNU, with its last victory coming in February 2020.

In doubles play, Rollins took control of the match early thanks to 6-1 wins over FNU pairs David Santamaria and Ignacio Acosta and Lennart Ostheimer and Luigi Stefanacci. Notably, FNU’s Guido Gentile and Alejandro Suarez earned the only FNU victory of the afternoon in a 7-6 win over Rollins duo Nico de Giacomo and Charlie Putrino.

As the match moved to singles play, Rollins’ dominance could not be denied. RC’s Efe Comu defeated Acosta 6-0, 6-0 while de Giacomo got an impressive 6-1, 6-0 victory over Suarez. Santamaria had a competitive first set versus Moritz Stenzer before Stenzer took the point 7-6 and won the following 6-0.
