HIALEAH, Fla. (Oct. 17, 2023) – Two draws and a win in Continental Athletic Conference (CAC) play keeps Florida National University’s men’s soccer team in the No. 12 spot in this week’s NAIA Men’s Soccer Coaches Poll. This marks the first week this season that the Conquistadors did not move up in the standings, as the two teams were dropped from the top 25.

FNU spent most of last week at the CAC Classic hosted by Georgia Gwinnett College. The Conquistadors left Lawrenceville, Ga., with a  scoreless stalemate against Washington Adventist University and a 1-1 tie versus GGC. The then No. 24 Grizzlies had a tough tournament, losing their first match to WAU 1-0 and were dropped from the top 25 in this week’s poll.

FNU did manage to put together a solid 2-0 win over Florida College on Oct. 17, improving to 9-1-4 in 2023. Notably, the Conquistadors’ sole loss this season belongs to the now No. 2 St. Thomas University Bobcats. The Bobcats garnered three first-place votes while Mid-America Christian University remains in the coveted  No. 1 slot with 15 first-place votes.

Along with GGC, Columbia College of Missouri lost its place in the rankings, and RV standouts Mount Mercy University and Southern Oregon University sit at No. 24 and No. 25, respectively.
