FNU men’s soccer exits peach state with another road win, defeats Middle Georgia, 2-0

Cochran, GA ( Sept. 12, 2022) – The Conquistadors secured an impressive victory against Middle Georgia State 2-0, Wednesday. The newly minted No.18 ranked FNU squad closed out two games in Georgia with a perfect sweep of the competition, improving to 6-0-0 on the season. Middle Georgia continues its search for its first win as the fall to 0-5-0.

The first half was a back-and-forth battle as each team was unable to take the advantage leaving the score 0-0 going into halftime. FNU had some solid looks early as a header from Vinicius Mallmann and a shot from Constantino Higa both went wide left of the goal.

The game-changing moment came in the 60-minute mark, as Marcos Bakale scored the Conquistadors’ first goal in the contest. Following his teammates’ much-needed score, Artur Palmeira netted a second goal for FNU on a high-flying free kick.

The Conquistadors ended the contest with 25 shots, 11 on goal, and 13 corner kicks. Middle Georgia trailed behind with only one shot on goal of the five they took in the match.

 

Up Next: FNU will lace up their cleats once again for what is sure to be a competitive match-up September 17 against Ave Maria. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
