MIAMI, Fla. (Feb. 10, 2024) – Florida National University’s track and field team started the 2024 campaign on Feb. 10 at the Superfly Athletics Pre-Season Classic. The Conquistadors showed early marks of a great season ahead on the track of Belen Jesuit Preparatory School in Miami. The field was stacked with talent out of The Sun Conference with Ave Maria University, St. Thomas University and Webber International University’s men’s and women’s teams all participating in the classic. 

On the women’s side of the action, Prisilla Gonzalez placed fifth in the 200m with a time of 30.13 and sixth in the 400m, posting a time of 1:11.81. The women’s 800m featured a fifth-place finish for Daryl Quichimbo while Conquistador standout Christina Adams ended the evening in first place with a time of 5:26.60 in the mile.

The men’s team succeeded in the mile with two Conquistadors in the top ten. Kristian Bodden had a third-place finish with a time of 4:39.48 and Alessandro Herrera placed eighth. Austin Phanitdasack finished seventh in the men’s 60m hurdles and 11th in the 200m with a time of 24.40.

Notably, freshman Brogan Slater-White had his Conquistador debut in the 800m race. He finished eighth crossing the finish line with a time of 2:21.29.
