FNU softball sweeps CAC Weekly Honors

HIALEAH, Fla. (Feb. 19, 2024) – Florida National University’s senior Ana (Gabi) De Oliveira Obando and freshman Sophia White were named as the Continental Athletic Conference (CAC) Softball Hitter and Pitcher of the Week. FNU posted a stellar 4-2 win over the No. 22 Southeastern University Fire and was able to split a tough series versus the Warner University Royals on Feb. 13. 

Obando, the Hitter of the Week, tallied eight hits and scored five runs across four games against Florida opponents,” the CAC’s release said. “She hit a home run in each game against Warner University (Florida) last Tuesday. The outfielder went 5-for-5 with two RBI and a pair of runs scored in a 9-7 win.”

“The Sao Paulo, Brazil, native registered two doubles as the team defeated No. 22-ranked Southeastern University (Florida) last Friday.”

White, the Pitcher of the Week, had a complete-game performance in the Conquistadors’ 4-2 victory against Southeastern,” read the CAC’s release. 

“She went 2-0 with a 1.85 earned run average for the week. The Jupiter Farms, Florida, native also posted a victory after a 4.1-inning relief appearance in the team’s 9-7 victory against Warner.”
