LAKE WALES, Fla. (March 29, 2024) – Florida National University’s men’s tennis team (1-9) fell in four straight singles matches to fall 4-1 to Sun Conference foe Warner University (10-5) on March 29. FNU started strong with a 1-0 lead after capturing the opening doubles point in Lake Wales, Fla., but lost critical matches in singles play.

Warner’s Andre Balatzar and Carlos Quinones were the only Royal pair to score a victory in double play, defeating Ignacio Acosta and Matteo Ruscassier, 6-2. FNU pair Guido Gentile and Luigi Stefanacci grabbed a stellar 6-3 win versus Eduardo Morais and Diogo Botelho Pessoa. Sebastian Fujita and David Santamaria topped Niklas Huth and Luis Rodriguez in a competitive battle, 7-5.

Warner’s Balatzar continued to play well, posting a 6-4, 6-1 win versus Acosta. Partners Gentile and Stefanacci did not have the same success on their respective courts, losing their matches 6-2, 6-1, and 6-3, 6-3. Fujita dropped his match against Sam Routzahn 6-3, 6-2.
