Hatters cap off a dominant victory over FNU, 7-0

DeLand, Fla. (Feb. 4, 2023)Florida National University’s women’s tennis team put up a valiant effort against the Stetson University Hatters. This marks the second loss for FNU in 2023 and the Conquistadors hold on to a 0-1 record in the early goings of the 2023 season. 

The Hatters got off to a solid start earning the double point after FNU’s Fabiola Bsereni and Pirada Suwanruk got shut out by Alanna DiFrancesco and Magdalena Hedrzak 0-6. Conquistador duo Nadia Abad and Vanessa Simone were the next pair to fall as Cheri Darlay / Nadejda Maslova secured the point with a 1-6 win. 

The singles competition left much to be desired for the Conquistadors as no FNU player managed to squeak out a win. Notably, Vera Hoekstra performed nicely against Stetson’s Anais Gabriel before losing 2-6,0-6. 

 

Doubles Competition:

Number one: 

Fabiola Bsereni / Pirada Suwanruk lose to Alanna DiFrancesco / Magdalena Hedrzak (0-6)

Number two:

Nadia Abad / Vanessa Simone lose to Cheri Darlay / Nadejda Maslova (1-6)

Number three: 

Sofia Victoria Pera / Salome Sierra vs. Maxence Lippens / Laetitia Rizk (1-5, UF)

 

Singles Competition: 

Sofia Victoria Pera falls to Alanna DiFrancesco (0-6, 0-6)

Vera Hoekstra falls to Anais Gabriel (2-6, 0-6)

Vanessa Simone falls to Cheri Darlay (2-6, 1-6)

Salome Sierra falls to Magdalena Hedrzak (1-8)

Pirada Suwanruk falls to Tessa Menten (5-8)

Nadia Abad falls to Laetitia Rizk (6-8)
