HIALEAH, Fla. (Dec. 18, 2023) – Florida National University’s Tyra Kirlew earned the Continental Athletic Conference (CAC) Women’s Basketball Player of the Week award following a clutch performance against the University of Fort Lauderdale on Dec. 15. This is the final CAC weekly honor for the 2023 calendar year.
The Nassau, Bahamas, native went 6-8 from the floor in Florida National’s 85-78 overtime victory. Under the rim, Kirlew’s effort resulted in 10 rebounds as the junior center saw 20 minutes of action against the Eagles.
“The center scored 13 points and had 10 rebounds in just 20 minutes of action in an overtime triumph last Friday against the University of Fort Lauderdale (Florida),” the CAC’s release said.
“Kirlew grabbed three offensive rebounds and made a free throw to trim FNU’s deficit to two points late in the fourth quarter. The Conquistadors eventually won the game 85-78.”
Kirlew and the Conquistadors look to keep it rolling this afternoon with a 3:30 p.m. contest against Midland University at St. Thomas University.
