HIALEAH, Fla. (Feb. 13, 2024) – Florida National University’s men’s tennis team (1-6) earned its first win of the 2024 season over the Palm Beach Atlantic University Sailfish (0-3). This is the second year in a row FNU has defeated PBA, as FNU conquered a 4-3 win in 2023. The Conquistadors got a win at Goodlet Park on Feb, 16 thanks to solid doubles play and four critical wins in singles play.

FNU’s Lennart Ostheimer and Luigi Stefanacci defeated Peter Drager and Marko Visontai 6-1 before Guido Gentile and Alejandro Suarez defeated Axel Reich and Matthew Young 6-4 en route to a 1-0 lead.  In singles play, Gentile and Suarez both collected wins in singles play in close contests. Ostheimer overpowered PBA’s Drager for a critical 6-1,6-4 victory. Veteran Sebastian Fujita helped FNU secure the win after defeating Matthew Young 3-6, 6-4, 10-1.

Lennart Ostheimer / Luigi Stefanacci defeated Peter Drager / Marko Visontai (6-1)

Number three: 

Guido Gentile / Alejandro Suarez defeated Axel Reich / Matthew Young (6-4)

 

Singles Competition: 

Ignacio Acosta falls to Luis Eduardo Platas (2-6, 3-6)

Guido Gentile defeated Juanfer Contreras (6-3, 6-4)

Lennart Ostheimer defeated Peter Drager (6-1, 6-4)

Luigi Stefanacci falls to Marko Visontai (6-7, 6-4, 6-10)

Alejandro Suarez defeated Axel Reich (6-4, 6-3)

Sebastian Fujita defeated Matthew Young (3-6, 6-4, 10-1)
