US Coast Guard Tuition Assistance & Educational Benefits

Tuition Assistance (TA) is authorized for Active Duty military and Reserve members affiliated with the Selected Reserve (SELRES). Tuition assistance is authorized for courses leading to the first Certificate, Associate, Bachelor, and Master’s degree. Tuition assistance benefits are not authorized for members pursuing additional degrees at the same or lower level regardless of how they received their first degree.

The US Coast Guard will fund tuition costs, not to exceed $250.00 per semester hour, with an annual cap for reimbursement of $3,750.00 per member, and a lifetime credit limit of 130 semester hours for undergraduate and 40 semester hours for graduate.

Failure to pass a course with a “C” or higher for undergraduate courses, and a “B” or higher for graduate courses will require service member reimbursement of tuition assistance benefits.
