MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (April 12, 2024) – Florida National University’s women’s tennis team (3-11) faced another misstep in the 2024 season, falling 4-0 to the No. 9 St. Thomas University Bobcats (5-7). STU was efficient, leaving the final three singles matches off the court after a striking victory in doubles play and three impressive wins on the singles courts. 

FNU pair Vanessa Simone and Nadia Abad were the only Conquistador duo to grab a win in doubles play, defeating Alicia Andres-Rodriguez and Carlota Costa 6-3. Fabiola Bsereni and Natalia Calvo fell in their match to Isabella Ciancaglini and Carme Ibanez Navarro 6-1. Florida National’s Chiara Fiorenza and Karyna Krykunenko faced a similar fate, dropping their match 6-3 versus Nataliya Slipchenko and Lauren Seemann. 

Singles play was a stellar Bobcat affair, as Ciancaglini-Ribera defeated Krykunenko 6-0 in both sets. Abad missed the mark opposite Andres-Rodriguez 6-2, 6-4. Ibanez Navarro sealed the deal with a 3-6, 6-4, 6-0 win over Calvo.
