HIALEAH, Fla. (April 1, 2024) – Interim no more. After leading Florida National University’s men’s basketball team (10-14) to its first ten-win season since 2019-2020, Daniel Pressman will be the fourth coach in program history.

Pressman served as an assistant coach at the start of the 2023-24 season and was elevated to interim head coach following the departure of Marcos Molina in December 2023. The Pembroke Pines, Fla., native led Florida National to a 5-1 record over the last six games of the season. As a result, the Conquistadors made their first appearance in the Continental Athletic Conference (CAC) Championship tournament in late February.

FNU secured the second seed in the CAC tournament and executed a masterful 96-86 victory over championship host Haskell Indian Nations University in the quarterfinal round. Despite an exit in the semifinals after a 67-60 loss to the Washington Adventist University Shock, FNU ended its season with seven conference wins.

Under his guidance, Pressman saw Florida National gain two All-CAC First Team honorees in Jovan Debrito and Ray Daniel Parrish. Debrito averaged 22.5 points per contest on 44% shooting from the floor and 40% shooting from three. Parrish did it all for the Conquistadors, averaging a near double-double of 16.4 points per game and 8.5 boards. Matthew Robinson was awarded an Honorable Mention after playing just nine of FNU’s 24 games this season.

Before joining Florida National, Pressman was at Florida International University in Miami. He worked as a graduate assistant and student manager for the Panthers. As a grad assistant, Pressman gained experience in scouting, cutting film and skill training while earning a Master of Science in Kinesiology and Exercise Science.
