Scott Schmidt FNU Athletic Director and Head Coach

Mr. Schmidt spent a year as Recreation Director and Unit Lead at a juvenile treatment facility in Plankinton, SD, where he was awarded Employee of the Year. From there he went on to become Co-Founder of M33M youth basketball (Refers to Mike Miller and #33 from Miller’s days with the Memphis Grizzlies) in Memphis, TN, where he has been coaching and the managing director since. Scott also served a year and a half as Mike Miller’s personal assistant in Miami where he learned various skills regarding the professional sports world while Miller was part of the Miami’s Heat 2011-2012 Championship Season.

Schmidt also donates his time to charitable foundations and causes where he is an event administrator and fundraiser for the Mike Miller Foundation and Youth Athletic Foundation. Scott has organized several community awareness events including the Mike Miller Classic, a national High School Basketball tournament held during Christmas break in South Dakota, the Jack Jones Shootout, a Senior Showcase basketball event that has been held in Memphis and Miami as well as hosting the Mike Miller Let It Fly Kid’s Camp in Hialeah.
Mr. Schmidt’s Mother, DeAnn, is the Office Administrator at CHR Solutions in Mitchell, SD, where she has held the position for 43 years. His sister, Heidi, teaches 6th grade at Harrisburg Middle School and has been teaching for 12 years. Schmidt’s brother in law, Ryan is an underwriter for a Surety company. Heidi and Ryan have a 20-month old son, Isaac, and he is the first nephew and grandchild of the family. They reside in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Schmidt’s late father, Jim, has a little league baseball field named in his memory; “ The Jim Schmidt Field of Dreams” which is located in Schmidt’s hometown of Mitchell, South Dakota.
