Seven FNU cross country runners earned NAIA Scholar-Athlete award. (Nov. 24, 2023)

HIALEAH, Fla. (Nov. 24, 2023) – Florida National University’s cross country teams combined for seven 2023 Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes. FNU’s four honorees on the men’s side are Cristopher Carmenate, Leon Kipkoech, Michael Kipchumba and Roger Guardiola. For the Conquistador women, Hassell Zeledon, Heather Castro and Prisilla Gonzalez round out the list of FNU honorless.

“The 2023 list features 626 student-athletes that achieved at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average (GPA) at their institution,” said the NAIA’s women’s cross country release. “In order to be nominated by an institution’s head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, must appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport and have attended one full year at said institution.”

“The 2023 list features 491 student-athletes that achieved at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average (GPA) at their institution,” read the NAIA’s men’s cross country release.
