HIALEAH, Fla. (Nov. 15, 2023) – Florida National University’s women’s volleyball and women’s soccer teams both had three stellar players make the short list of 2023 Continental Athletic Conference All-Conference Team members.

FNU’s Layla Cortez was named the Attacker of the Year for the CAC and landed a solid spot on the CAC’s All-Conference First Team.

Cortez was the featured player in Florida National’s attack, posting a .209 hitting percentage within a team-high 757 attacks while having 289 kills (3.71 per set) for the Conquistadors,” said the CAC’s press release.

Along with Cortez, defensive specialist Taylor Purdy and setter Ivette Sandoval were recognized for their hard work this season with a much-deserved Second Team selection. The Conquistadors’ Champion of Character was Amaya Morales.

For FNU women’s soccer, Johanna Andersson and Hucely Hernadez made an appearance on the CAC’s All-Conference Second Team list. Senior midfielder Mickaela Calisto earned a well-deserved Honorable Mention.
