Softball Closes Out Weekend with Sunday Split

KISSIMMEE, Fla. (March 7, 2021) – The Florida National softball team (7-10) closed out its weekend at The Spring Games with a Sunday split, defeating (rv) Bellevue (Neb.), 3-1, and falling to William Penn, 4-3.

Timely hitting and a strong performance in the circle led to a 3-1 win over the Bruins on Sunday morning as the Conquistadors began day.

Gabryella Hay and Madison Bradshaw broke a 1-1 tie with RBI singles in the bottom of the sixth. Hay finished the game hitting 2-for-3 while Bradshaw went 1-for-3 with a sac fly from the plate.

In the circle, Natasha Trujillo (1-4) pitched a gem to win her first game of the 2021 season. Trujillo allowed one run (unearned) on just one hit and striking out seven in a complete-game victory.

In Game Two, FNU allowed scored in each of the first three innings and could not overcome a four-run deficit, dropping its 10th game of the year.

Hay drove in a pair of runs for the Conquistadors, going 1-for-2 in the game.

Maria Imhoff (0-1) suffered the loss, allowing four runs (three earned) on five hits in three innings of action.

The Conquistadors will travel to Lake Wales, Florida, to take on Warner in a doubleheader on Thursday, March 11. First pitch for Game One is set for 1:30 p.m.
