Volleyball Drops Two at Webber International Tri-Match

BABSON PARK, Fla. (March 10, 2021) – The Florida National volleyball team (8-8) dropped a pair of matches in a tri-meet at Webber International on Wednesday.

In the first match, FNU took on Columbia International, falling to the rams, 3-1 (25-16, 22-25, 26-24, 25-21).

The Conquistadors recorded a .095 hitting percentage versus CIU, notching 53 kills on 179 total attempts with 36 hitting errors. Joanne Dania registered a match-high 23 kills and recorded 12 digs for her third double-double of the season. Carolina Arrais Dantas posted 12 kills and tallied 16 digs for her first double-double of the year.

Gabriela Hernandez registered a match-high 44 assists and led FNU with 17 digs for her fourth double-double of the season.

In the second match of the day, the Conquistadors took on host-school Webber International, falling to the Warriors, 3-2 (25-21, 23-25, 21-25, 25-21, 15-13).

FNU battled WIU and pushed the Warriors to the brink forcing five sets. The Conquistadors jumped out to a 2-1 lead after taking the third set 25-21. But, WIU battled back, winning set four and clinch the match in set five, 15-13.

Dania registered a second double-double of the day with 15 kills and 19 digs versus the Warriors. Also notching her second double-double of the day was Arrias Dantas with 12 kills and 12 digs as well as Hernandez, who notched 38 assists and 17 digs in the match.

The Conquistadors will host the Webber International Warriors on Friday, April 9. Game time is set for 6:00 p.m.
