BOCA RATON, Fla. (Oct. 21, 2023) – Florida National’s women’s soccer team fell short of another win, this time against NCAA DII Lynn University Knights. After tying the match 1-1, FNU was unable to keep Lynn off the board and earned its seventh loss in nine games.

The Knights were the first team to get a goal in the back of the net. Forty-eight seconds past the 27th-minute mark, Kayla Bradby placed the ball in the bottom left of the net off her right foot to beat FNU goalie, Nahomie Ambroise. This was a short-lived victory for the Knights, as a speedster and FNu’s goal-scoring leader, Johanna Andersson, made use of a stellar pass from Hucely Hernandez to make it a 1-1 affair.

Both teams settled for the draw heading into halftime, with FNU trailing 8-2 in shots taken, but the Conquistadors did attempt four corners in the period.  When play continued in the second, a handball in the penalty area by FNU’s Victoria Castillo allowed the Knights to take a game-changing penalty kick. Lynn’s Brigitta Pulins hit a textbook shot into the bottom right of the net that put the Knights back on top 2-1.

The Conquistadors had one more shot at goal from Victoria Daley-Willy towards the bottom left of the net that was quickly saved by Lynn goalie Hannah Harbich-Kuster. Florida National ended the match with three shots to the Knights’ 22. Ambroise had another great performance with nine saves.
