MOUNT OLIVE, NC. (Oct. 17, 2023) – Florida National University’s women’s soccer team continues to struggle offensively, falling to 0-5-2 after a 2-0 loss to the University of Mount Olive Trojans. UMO is the first of two games scheduled for the Conquistadors in North Carolina, and the Conquistadors came into this Oct. 17 match a couple of weeks removed from a 4-0 loss to the NCAA DII Barry Buccaneers.

The Bucs held FNU to zero shots in their Oct. 2 exhibition battle and the Conquistadors avoided this daunting stat line versus the Trojans with attempts taken by goalie Nahomie Ambroise, Claudia Rivero and Johanna Andersson. Notably, Andersson recorded the lone shot on goal for the Conquistadors in the contest.

The Trojans got on the board with an 18-minute goal from Amanda McLeod. McLeod lobbed a pass from teammate Jaslyn Gott on the right side of the field that went right past the hands of Ambroise. Eleven minutes later, Tianna Hill made it a 2-0 affair off an assist from fellow UMO teammate Addison Dangler.

Mount Olive controlled all five corners awarded in the contest and attempted a staggering 23 shots before the final whistle blew. Ambroise displayed her usual toughness in the net, picking up 10 saves.

Up Next: FNU caps off its road trip to North Carolina with a 4 p.m. contest versus the USCAA’s Shaw University on Oct. 18.
