FNU Softball picks up a pair of home wins over Columbia International University

Miami, Fla. – Your Conquistadors trailed 2-0 at the very beginning of the first doubleheader. FNU softball team posted then seven runs in the second inning as it cruised to its next win by an 8-3 margin over Columbia International on Tuesday afternoon.

The Rams opened the game’s scoring with a wild pitch and error to put the Rams up 2-0. The Rams managed to lead the score for one inning – but it was all FNU from there.

The Conquistadors exploded for seven runs in the bottom of the second inning providing a two-run blast to the left-center to key the offensive surge by freshman Arianna Spinnichia who drove in a pair with an RBI double and Kyra Sunga also driving in a double would secure 2 RBIs allowing two more runs to be scored. Gabriela Obando Sophomore came through with a double and a single RBI to bring home Kyra Sunga. Madison Bradshaw would come up to the plate and single and allow Megen Johnson to score. Gabriela Obando would score the final run of the inning on a pop-up by Yleisha Perez.

Pitcher Gabriela Hay would homer one down the center field to secure a final run for the conquistadors.

Game 2
FNU got things started once again in the second inning after two hits and securing three runs.

Gabriela Obando singled and would score for the conquistadors on an error by the Rams.

Yleisha Perez would also single and steal second, and advance to third on an error. Perez would score by stealing home.

Zaira Nunez would advance on an error by the 1st baseman, steal second & third and score on a wild pitch making the score 3-0.

Bottom of the 5th Stephanie Bowers doubles. Pinch-runner Bryanna Samson comes in for Bowers and scores for the conquistadors on an error by the right fielder.

The Rams would score three runs in the top of the 6th but wouldn’t be enough to tie up the game.

UP NEXT: The Conquistadors (15-6) will look to extend their winning streak. When they head up to Lawrenceville, Georgia this weekend to play in games vs Georgia Gwinnett & Rio Grande Friday & Saturday at 11 AM & 3 PM ET on both days.
