Track and Field ends regular season at STU Last Chance Meet

MIRAMAR, Fla. (May 13, 2023) – Florida National University’s track and field ended the 2023 season with a solid showing at the St. Thomas University Last Chance Meet held at the Ansin Sports Complex in Miramar, Fla. Student-athletes from Keiser, Florida Memorial, Webber International, Embry-Riddle and Lynn made up a competitive field in this South Florida battle.

On the men’s side, FNU’s David Bellefleur continues to be at the top of his game, landing a second-place finish in the 800m with a time of 1:53.87. Also in the 800m, mid-distance runners Gabriel Rodriguez and Cristopher Carmenate landed in 15 and 16th place with a time of 2:11.90 and 2:26.50, respectively.

Ingmar van Noort sprinted his way to a 13th and 10th place spot in the 200m and 400m, respectively. Van Noort also impressed in the long jump with a 5.95m to end the meet in sixth place.

The women’s side of the competition was just as exciting. Maryam Abreu, Daryl Quichimbo and Prisilla Gonzalez went two-three-four in the 800m. Jumper Terralyn Brockington placed fifth in the long jump leaping to a 4.22m mark. Notably, Brockington’s 27.08m in the javelin throw was good enough for a third-place finish.
