DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (April 2, 2023) – Florida National University’s track and field team impressed at the Embry-Riddle Spikes Classic held in Daytona Beach, Fla., from March 30-April 1. FNU surged among a loaded competition field including NAIA standouts Kesier University, Webber International University and Ave Maria University. 

On the men’s side of the action, FNU’s David Bellefleur got third place in the men’s 800m with a time of 1:52.81.Bellefleur finished twelfth in the men’s 1500m. The Conquistadors men’s 4x400m relay team landed in sixth place.

In the men’s high jump, Trevor Moonin got a tenth place with a 1.75m mark. FNU ended the meet in eleventh place.

FNU’s women’s team raced their way to nineteenth place, thanks in part to a strong fourth place finish with a time of 4:38.28 in the 4x400m relay featuring Prisilla Gonzalez, Maryam Abreu, Daryl Quichimbo, Hassell Zeledon. Terralyn Brockington earned an eleventh place in the women’s javelin throw and sixth in the high jump with a mark of 1.42m
