SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (April 29, 2023) – In the cold and rainy track of Hampshire College, Florida National University’s track and field team went toe-to-toe with some of the top schools in the USCAA. After strong appearances at the St. Thomas Pre Conference Meet, FNU’s men’s team placed fourth while the women’s ended the meet in fifth place. 

The men’s fourth-place performance was anchored by David Bellefleur’s first-place finishes in the men’s 800m and 1500m races. Jumper Trevor Moonin leaped his way to fourth place in the men’s high jump with a mark of 1.75m. In the 100m sprint, Nicolas Aguado got fourth place with a time of 11.34 while Moonin came in seven at 11.61 seconds.

On the women’s side of the event, Maryam Abreu clocked in at 2:29.49 in the 800m and 5:06.75 in the 1500m for two first-place finishes. The relay team of Prisilla Gonzalez, Abreu, Daryl Quichimbo and Hassell Zeledon blew past the competition for a third-place finish with a time of 4:33.40. 

Notably, Terralyn Brockington placed third in the javelin throw and fifth in the high jump with a mark of 1.32m.
