About Dr. Rosa Hernandez

Dr. Rosa Hernandez serves as the Director of Academic Advising and Faculty Athletics Representative at Florida National University. Dr. Maria Cristina Regueiro, one of the founders of Florida National University and the University President/CEO at the time, appointed Dr. Hernandez to the position of Faculty Athletics Representative in 2018 since the institution became affiliated with the NAIA. This appointment provided her with another excellent opportunity to expand her academic career.

She is an accomplished graduate of the University of Havana in Cuba, and has earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, a Master of Sciences in Special Education, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Education (Ph.D.). With over three decades of professional experience, Dr. Hernandez has worked with various academic institutions in the United States and abroad. However, FNU holds a special place in her heart as it gave her the opportunity to grow since her arrival in the United States. Dr. Hernandez’s career also includes ten years of advocacy for the Hispanic Community in South Florida while working in the House of Representatives of the United States Congress.

Dr. Hernandez embodies the quote, “A teacher takes a hand, opens a mind, and touches a heart” by Colleen Wilcox. She is an inspiration to many and continues to impact lives with her expertise and dedication to education.
