Florida National University hosts the IRS – VITA Program.

Working together to serve the community during the 2022 Tax Season.

Florida National University (FNU) worked with the Internal Revenue System (IRS) for the 2022 Tax return season. The tax season can be a source of concern for many in our community, so we partnered again this year with the IRS to provide no-cost tax filing assistance. The IRS’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program is designed to help community members fill out their income tax return forms. IRS-certified volunteers provide free essential income tax return preparation to qualified individuals in local communities.

Students enrolled in FNU’s Business Programs and recent graduates volunteered and were certified by the IRS to participate. Our students provided high-quality tax services to many of our community members from January to April.

Florida National University appreciates the volunteer effort of our business and accounting students. We also want to thank Gisselle Martin (FNU Faculty) and Raimir Perez (FNU Graduate-volunteer) for serving as Site Coordinators during this 2022 VITA program. With the cooperation of students and site coordinators, the VITA program achieved an 89% rate of accepted returns by the IRS. This positively impacted our community by saving $10,800.00. Additionally, we want to thank Julia Villa (IRS representative) and all the FNU staff and administration for supporting the FNU-VITA Site during this tax season.

This collaboration between FNU and the IRS started in 2011 and we expect to continue this partnership in the years to come.
