Luis Rivera, Jr.

Luis A. Rivera Jr. enters his third year at Florida National University as the Assistant Athletic Trainer.

Prior to FNU, Luis was the Head Athletic Trainer at Johnson & Wales University (North Miami). He worked at JWU from January 2016 until they closed their doors in the Fall of 2020. He previously had experience working with the Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Center of Miami.

Luis was born in Barranquilla, Colombia, and grew up in South Florida. He is the oldest of three siblings. His passion for Athletic Training began as a dedicated student-athlete throughout adolescence to which he decided to seek a degree in sports medicine. He aspires to one day work in the professional sports realm.

Luis received a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training and a Master of Science in Human Performance and Wellness also from Barry University. His Master’s program included a Movement Sciences program which offered a multi-faceted specialization in athletic training, injuries, and sports biomechanics. Luis is certified in the Graston soft-tissue therapy technique and is a member of the National Athletic Trainer’s Association (NATA).
