At Florida National University, athletic and academic excellence are inseparable goals for student-athletes. The university is committed to the academic success and graduation of students participating in its athletic programs.
Message from the Athletic Director
When we think of helping the student-athlete become a well-rounded individual as they pursue their dreams at Florida National University, I quickly think of the moment that they will walk across the stage the day of tomorrow in order to receive their diplomas upon graduation.
There are many steps before completing a college degree and my office is dedicated to developing both the student and the athlete of each young person who joins the Conquistadors family. While I certainly wish to compete and win all of our contests on the courts and fields more than anyone, I am more determined to do whatever is possible to give all student-athletes every opportunity to walk across the stage and continue their success in the “real world.”
The Athletic Department’s office of student-athlete services. This group of individuals will continuously provide academic counseling, personal development, career development, community awareness and leadership services for all the student-athletes who walk through our doors each week. At Florida National University any student that comes in with below a 2.5 GPA or while at FNU goes below a 2.5 GPA he/she will automatically be put into study hall for 2 hours a day for 2 days a week. These students-athletes will be helped and counseled in order to raise their GPA above a 2.5 GPA
While winning games and being national ranked is an instant bonus and gratification of being a member of the Florida National University Department of Athletics administrative staff, the memory of our student-athletes enjoying that exciting day in the middle of May at Commencement is even more powerful.
